NOEL CRUMP NOMINATED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday The council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association has decided to nominate Noel Crump, Auckland. for the 100 yds. and 440 yds. events at the British Empire Games. W. Wharcaitu, of Rotorua, and L. Smith, of Feilding, have been provisionally nominated for backstroke and breaststroke events respectively, subject to the necessary finance being available. It was reported that inquiries among centres for financial assistance met with very pool 1 response, all maior centres except Auckland having declined to assist. So far there is sufficient promised to meet Crump's expenses.
