UNIVERSITY COLLEGES

MEMBERSHIP OF COUNCILS STUDENT INCLUSION URGED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday A motion recommending student representation on university college councils was passed unanimously at a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Students' Association. Mr. R. J. Larkin (Victoria College) moved and Mr. E. P. Haslam seconded: "That the association communicate with the authorities with a view to asking them to take the necessary steps to amend the various Acts relating to the four university colleges in order to provide for student representation on college .councils." Examples were quoted from the experiences of the four colleges to show that the presence of a student representative on the various governing bodies would have been effective in preventing a certain serious misunderstanding.
