FIRE IN FACTORY

CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE MACHINERY AND STOCK (Received March 30. 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. March 30 A fire in Merrett's hat factory, Surrev Hills, caused damage to the extent of about £SOOO. The roof fell in on the gutted upper floor and the machinery in the lower storeys, also the stock, was severely damaged by water. About 100 employees got out safely. The adjoining premises were thought to be in danger for a time owing to fears that the factory walls would collapse.
