TWO FULL MOONS

OCCURRENCE THIS MONTH SECOND RECENT OCCASION For the second time this year there have been two full moons in a month. The moon was full on March 1 a,t 10.26 p.m. and was full again this morning at 1.15 a.m. In January there were also two full moons, occurring on the Ist and 31st of the month. February, therefore, had no full moon this year. The lunar period is about 29 days 12 hours, so it is only in those months where the full moon occurs on either the first or second day of a month of 31 days that it is possible for another full moon to be seen in the same month. The occurrence of two full moons in the one month is so unusual that 18f years will elapse before there is a repetition of this phenonemon.
