"PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY"

A new choir under the title, " The Auckland Philharmonic Society," is being formed by Mr. D. Bradley, of the Queen's Arcade, formerly secretary of the Auckland Municipal Choir. It will consist of members of the Municipal Choir, as well as new members, but its membership will not exceed 100. There will bo no subscription but members will contribute one penny each week. It is hoped to give four conecrts this year, the first being drawn from the works of Elgar, the second comprising extracts from " Lohengrin," the third being a miscellaneous programme from the works of composers of many nations, and the fourth a Christmas Carol' concert. The new choir hopes to use much of the music held by the Auckland City Council, and negotiations are now taking place with the council for the free use of the music. *=3l
