The effort realised a sum of over £l3. At the Hotel Cargen are Mrs. Logan, Masterton, Mrs. William-Powlett, London, Miss J. D. Stewart. Dannevirke, and Miss T. Worsp, Whangarei. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Munro, Whangarei, who have been spending the past two months in Matamata, will arrive in Auckland to-day on their return to the North. At the monthly meeting of the Women's Progress Club an address on " The Seeret of a Beautiful Life" was given by Mr. J. H. Pateman, after which tea was served. Mrs. J. Riddell, Miss A. I. Good, Wellington, Mrs. A. J. Baker, Wellington, Mrs. M. W. Roy. New Plymouth, and Miss M. Murdoch, Timaru, are at the Station Hotel. Mrs. J. Montgomery and Miss MMontgomery, Albany, Western Australia, Mrs. W. B. Hobbs and Miss Hobbs, Hastings, and Mrs. Welch. Wellington, are at the Hotel Cargen. Mrs. C. Lamb, Te Aroha, Mrs. C. Baldwin, Wanganui, Mrs. R. Carpenter, Waipukurau, Mrs. R. Lerwill. Mrs. G. Davis, and Miss A. Davis, Wellington, and Miss B. Fleming, New Plymouth, are at the Station Hotel. r Mrs. Norman Burton, who for manr years has been a member of the general committee of the Maungakiekie Golf Club, and who resigned from the committee upon her election as the first ladies' president of the club, was presented this week with a handsome coif bag. The president of the club, Mr. J. Ellett, made the presentation on behalf of the committee and members.

A pianoforte solo was given by Mrs. Anderson, a concerted number by Mesdames Carthew, Todd, Booker, Webster and Miss Bush, songs by Mrs. Carthew, a reading by Mesdames Scott., Gibbings, Hargreaves, George and Miss Jamieson, a quartette by Mesdames Todd, Booker, Carthew and Webster. Afternoon tea was served by Miss Bush and Mrs. Lemon was the hostess. The weekly concert arranged by Mrs. Raeburn and Mr. A. Hamblin at the Public Hospital was held in Ward 27. The programme was provided by Mrs. N. V. Lepetit and consisted of instrumental items, songs, flute solos and humorous items. A large audience was present from other wards. Those taking part were: Misses Queenie Pooro, Patricia McLeod, Beryl Smith, Moya Cooper-Smith, ; Mrs. N. V. Lepetit, Messrs. Frank Pgore, G. Laird and Alan McElwain. The accompanists were Miss Q. Poore and Mrs. Lepetit.
