SUNDAY TENNIS

Sin—A storm of protest has been justifiably raised against the playing of games on Sunday. My purpose in writing on the subject is to condemn the indifference of a section of the Church leaders in our midst. I refer particularly to the Churhc to which I belong, and which claims to have the greatest number of adherents. Provision is made in the Communion service for the recital of the Ten Commandments. A unique opportunity is thus afforded to impress tho minds of everyone, and especially the younger folk, with tho necessity of conforming to the laws of the Almighty, including Sabbath observance. X number of clergy, for reasons best known to themselves, apparently prefer to refrain from reciting these Commandments, reading instead a somewhat meagre exhortation concerning one's duty to his God and to his neighbour. When will the Churches awaken to realise that their responsibility lies in something more than holding devotional services on every day in Holy Week. Churchman.
