THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE WAIHIS AGAIN STRENGTHEN After a single rail on Thursday morning, tlic Auckland Stock Exchange closed for the Easter vacation and will reopen on Monday, April 9. Operations at the call on Thursday were restricted considerably, but there was a satis/actory turnover. The market for Government loans showed little cbaiige, although offers were reduced slightly for the -I per cent stocks. There were no sellers. A parcel of 1955 4 per cent stock was released at £lO2 15s, a rise of ss; Auckland Harbour Hoard. 394.1, ti per cent, debentures, had sale at £loo 10s, which is £1 10s higher than in July. 1933. Xo business was done in banks and insurance. There- were slight fluctuations in levels, but inquiry was not particularly keen. The easing in the market for Australian industrials was reflected in a transfer of Henry .lones at 33s lOd, a drop of /lid. Woolworths (Sydney), second preference, sold unchanged at 25s Sd, and Dunlop-Pordriaus at IPs sd, also the current rate. Kauri Timbers gained Id in a transfer at 17s Gd. No selling took place in iS'ew Zealand issues. In mining Waihis strengthened and both offers and quotations advanced slightly. A' sale unchanged at 'lis 9d was followed by a further transaction at 355. King So'omons sold at Ms lOd, a loss of -Id on the last sale, which was cum dividend. Talisman Dubbo were . done 3d dearer at 9s.
