CHURCH CAMPS

NGARUAWAHIA GATHERING TOTAL OF 800 ATTENDING Easter camps are being held by a number of Church organisations. About 800 men and women of various denominations from all parts of the Dominion are present at the 14th annual Easter convention at Ngaruawahia' Religious meetings are being held each day in a large marquee and the speakers include Dr. Graham Scroggie, Dr. J. M. Laird, the Rev. W. P. Nicholson, and missionaries from various fields. An excursion on the Waikato River will take place this afternoon. There will be a communion service early tomorrow morning, followed by the usual service, with a missionary meeting in the afternoon and an evangelistic service in the evening. Monday will be visitors' day and the afternoon will be spent in recreation. The final gathering of , the convention will be a large testimony meeting in the evening. Arrangements for the convention are being carried out by Mr. R. Dunsmuir, honorary secretary. As a result of previous conventions over 40 young men and women are doing mission work in various parts of the world. About 150 members of the Auckland Presbyterian young men's Bible classes travelled by bus to Huuua on Thui'sday evening to attend the usual Easter camp. The Rev. W. Bower Black is camp chairman and the Rev. Duncan Cattanach is camp father. A Presbyterian women's camp is being conducted at Mairangi Bay. Members of Methodist young men's Bible classes are attending camps at Pine Island and Hunua, and camps for women students are also being conducted.
