THE KICK-INTO-TOUCH AFRICA OPPOSES CHANGE LONDON. March 28 The South African Rugby Football Control Board to-day discussed a request from New South Wales on behalf of the Rugby Unions of Australia that South Africa should support the effort to alter the kick-into-touch rule, or to obtain a special dispensation from the International Control Board. Transvaal and the Eastern Province supported the proposal, but the board rejected it by 11 votes to 4. Some members said they thought the alteration would cause professionalism, bui; those who were in favour of it contended that it would brighten the game, as it had done in New Zealand.
