MISSING FROM STEAMER
DISAPPEARANCE OF WOMAN •PASSENGER ON WANGANELLA Shortly after the Wanganella left Sydney for Auckland on Friday afternoon, a saloon passenger, Mrs. Hannah M. Wild, disappeared and was not seen again. The matter was reported when the vessel reached Auckland yesterday morning. When the Wanganella was leaving Sydney, Mrs. Wild, who was an Australian, 59 years of age, was leaning over the rail waving to friends on the wharf and she was crying. At seven o'clock next morning it was found that her cabin was empty and the bed had not been slept in. A thorough search of the i T essel was made*for the missing woman, but without success. Mrs. Wild's coat and handbag were found on deck near the rail aft. The luggage in the cabin consisted of a suitcase and an attache ease, which, however, contained no sleeping apparel. According to a telegram found in her handbag, she had been suffering from ill-health.
