BURDEN OF OFFICE
BRITISH . PRIME MINISTER MR. BALDWIN'S STATEMENT British Wireless RUGE'Y, March 22 Speaking during the defence debate in the House of Commons Mr. Baldwin said he agreed with much that had been said about the burden of work which fell on the Prime Minister. Ho had often thought of considering how that work might bo carried on more efficiently. - The time would come when the Prime Minister would have a small Department of his own and very likely someone working with him as Under-Secre-tary. By the time* any Prime Minister had held office for four or five years he was worn out. Mr. Baldwin said he had never seen defence co-operation better than it xv as under the present Ministers and Chiefs of Staff. As to pooling research, the speaker quoted several examples in which all three defence services were contributing successfully to this work, and said that generally there was more harmonious working in the Services for one common end than ever before.
