VETERAN FAVOURITES

ARLISS AND MARIE DRESSLER Two film players over 60 years of age were the succasses of the screen in 1933 in the opinion of Americans. George Arliss was the outstanding film actor of the year, according to a nationwide " movie-merit " ballot taken in Hollywood. Wallace Beery came second. Marie Dressier was voted the finest film actress of the year. Two of the three are British born, Arliss being a Londoner and Miss Dressier having been born in Cobourg, Canada. Their selection represents a remarkable triumph for sheer acting genius and experience over mere youth and beauty. George Arliss is 65, Marie Dressier over 60 and Wallace Beery 44. Each one would be modest enough to admit frankly: " I'm no beauty."
