BUTTER MARKET STEADY
IMPROVEMENT MAINTAINED RISE OF 1/6 OVER WEEK . CHEESE A SHADE EASIER The improvement in the London bhtter market has been maintained and steady conditions now rule. New Zealand is quoted'at 73s per cwt., which is a rise of Is 6d over the past week. Other butters also show an advance over the period. Australian is now selling at 71s, a rise of 3s, and Danish at 925, a rise of Is. The cheese market is quiet. Prices over the week have eased slightly, white and coloured cheese being now quoted at 43s 6d. The Press Association message sent from London on Thursday s.tates that the butter market is steady. Danish is quoted at 92s per cwt.; choicest salted New Zealand, 735; Australian, 71s;'Unsalted New Zealand, 725; Australian, 70s to 71s. The cheese market is quiet. New Zealand white is quoted at 43s 6d; coloured, 43s 6d; Australian white, 42s to 42s 6d; coloured, 42s 2d to 435.

A month ago the butter market was active. Danish was quoted at 98s; choicest salted New Zealand, 735; Australian, 70s;, unsalted, the same. The cheese market was steady. New Zealand, white, 44s 6d; coloured, 46s 6d; Australian, 42s to 445. Slow conditions existed in the butter market a year ago. Danish was quoted at 92s to 945; choicest salted New Zealand, 72s to 745; Australian, 71s to 725; unsalted, about Is premium. New Zealand white cheese was quoted at 40s to 425; coloured, 48s.

Lonsdale and Company (London), Limited: —Butter: New Zealand, 72s 6d; Australian,. 70s 6d; Danish, 68s to 69s f.0.b., 89s to 90s landed. Cheese: White and coloured, 43s 6d. Both markets are steady. Mr. W. W. Bowker, from A. J. Mills and Company, Limited:—Butter: New Zealand, finest, 72s to 735; firsts, 71s to 725; unsalted, 72s to 735; Danish, 925; Australian, 71s. Cheese: New Zealand, white and coloured, 43s to 43s 6d; Canadian, 52s to 545. Both markets are steady. V Dalgety and Company, Limited, from Samuel Page and Son, Limited: —Butter: Now Zealand, finest, 72s to 735; Danish, 90s to 925; Australian, finest unsalted, 70s to 71s; finest salted, 70s to 71s; general average quality, 67s to 695. The market is quiet. Cheese: New Zealand, white, 43s to 43s 6d; coloured, 43s 6d; Canadian, white, 50s to 665; Coloured, 50s to 565. The market is steadier Mr. L. McCartney, from Henry A. Regulations are to be issued shortly covering the export of Australian dairy produce. They will provide for the use of New Zealand white pine for butterboxes. Queensland kauri pino also will be permitted, and Queensland hoop pine, but wnere the latter is used it must bo treated with a preparation to prevent tainting the butter.
