THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE TURNOVER SLIGHTLY LARGER / There was an increased turnover on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, due largely to renewed activity in Waihi goldmining shares. The market, for Government loans drew unchanged buying support, sellers remaining silent. A parcel of Rural bonds was released at the /current rate, £9B. The demand for banks lacked strength and holders generally were averse to making concessions. New Zealands advanced slightly on the levels and a sale took place 3d higher at 48s 3d. An/' easing in offers accompanied throe sales in Unions at £lO 3s. a fall of 3s. Supplies of insurance scrip were scarce., inquiry being maintained at • steady levels. Buyers raised their limits slightly t'or South British. No business was done. In the' general sections, the Auckland Gas- issues were again a shade easier. The fully-paid were done unchanged at 24s 9d. Goldsbrough-Morts gained 3d on a transaction at 33s 3d and Woolworths', Sydney, • second preference rose by 8d on sale at 25s Bd. There was a further drop in Farmers' Trading, which changed hands 3d lower at 4s 3d. Wilsons Cement were released "at 25s lOd, a fall of 2d. After being available at a cheaper rate, Waihis closed on steady levels. Selling opened 6d lower at 35s 6d, the price dropping to 35s before business was again done twice at 35s 6d, with a closing transaction at 35s 9d. <# r 1 —
