WOMEN'S DIVISION
FARMERS' UNION Cambridge.—Mrs. Lnmbio presided over a well-attended meeting. Miss Marshall reported on the recent lialf-yearly Dominion executive meeting and the South Auckland Provincial Council report was :rea;l. Arrangements were made for the agricultural and pastoral show catering. Hostesses were Mesdames Anderson and Ellison. Hamilton.—At a meeting of the branch, lunch was served and was followed by a musical interlude. Mrs. Judd ii;avo a report of the Wanganui conference.
Huntlv.—A demonstration of toyinakinc; was given by Mrs. Burrell. A competition for the best plate of scones was won by Mrs. Bate,, points prizes going to Mesdames Wilson and Liddlo. A novelty competition was won by Miss McLuclde. Mesdames Martin, Tither and Mi :ssi Fleming were hostesses. Morrinsvillc. —At a. well-attended meeting, £11) was voted to community chest. It was decided to have a street stall in. an endeavour to raise funds, which aro urgently needed. The demonstration was on wool rug making and tin:: competition, naming the leaves of various native and exotic trees and shrubs. It was stated that two division housekeepers were working in the district. Reports were received of Mrs. Ward's meeting with the South Auckland executive.
Pukcatua.—At a recent meeting it was agreed to offer three prizes to school children for collecting the largest nuinbar of white butterflies. Mrs. and Miss IST. McKcc arranged a competition. Mrs.. McKc-o exhibited a great variety of beautiful dahlias; Mrs. Crook, a collection of choice sweet peas; and. Mrs. Solomon was awarded first prize for a collection of gladioli. Mesdames Weal, Atkinsi and Crook were hostesses. The Putaiuru branch met recently, Mrs. Sneddon presiding. The rest room committee' gave a report of activities, and Mrs. Bulmer, assisted by Mrs. Oliver, gave a demonstration of basket weaving from pine needles. The competition. for catching white butterflies closed with 577 dozens of the pests being destroyed. The competition for the bent colection of vegetables was won by Mrs, G. G. Ranger, Mrs. Kinloch being socond Tatuainui. —A branch of the division has berai formed at Tatuanui and the following officers elected: —President, Mrs. "vV. Northcroft; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. Darrall and C. Sing; secretary, Mrs. F., G. Shirley; committee, Mesdames C. Jenkins, A. Wratt, W. Innes and P. Rushton. A membership of seventeen has been enrolled.
