CROQUET AT HOME
NORTH SHORE CLUB A well-attended At Home was given by the members of the North Shore Croquet Club at their lawns in Devon port yesterday, visitors from the following clubs attending: Stanley Bay, Devonport, .Mount Eden, Takapnna. Hemucra, New Lynn, Mount Hobson and Waiteniata. Owing to the unavoidable absence of the president, the guests were received by the secretary, Airs. W. F. M. -Maclean. In the morning and afternoon progressive croquet tournaments were played, Airs. F. W. Beck being in charge of the arrangements, also ladder croquet, arranged by Airs. Brookes, and cluck croquet, arranged by Mrs. Watson. Morning tea, luncheon and afternoon tea were served in the pavilion, which was decorated in the club colours of pink and mauve. 'J 1 1 lose assisting with the tea were: Mrs. Flinn, Mrs. Smart, Mrs. Howard, Mrs. Cotes, Mrs. McLaren, Airs. Newbegin and Airs. O'Brien. Other members assisting in arrangements were: Airs. V. Ala son, Airs. Elliot, Airs. Penrose, Airs. Bartley, Mrs. .Jackman, Airs. Blackburn, Airs. Warren, Airs. Ardley, Airs. H. Cooper, Airs. Erickson, Airs. Gray and Aliss AI. Duder.
The following were the winners of the tournament: —Morning session, Airs. Palairet (A grade), Airs. R. Warren (B grade); afternoon session, Miss Washer (A grade), Airs. Gumming (13 grade). The clock croquet was won by Aliss Blair Mason, and Airs. Gumming won the ladder croquet. Competition prizes were won by the following ladies: Airs. G. Spence, Airs. Rice, Airs. Morrison, Airs. H. F. W. Aleikle, Airs. R. Council, Airs. A. T. Griffiths, Airs. C. Buchanan.
