AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION FIRST GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP PARNELL TO PLAY UNIVERSITY Owing to rain last Saturday, play in the first series of matches in the second rouncV of the Auckland Cricket Association's first grade championship will be confined to one day to-morrow. With the object of making the games more interesting and giving teams a chance to secure a decision in the limited time available, the association has decided to extend the playing timo for to-morrow. The games will start at 1.45 p.m. and finish at 6.45 p.m., while no set afternoon tea interval will be recognised. A new ball will be used at the commencement of each team's innings. The championship is in a very interesting state at present, as there are about four teams with chances of clinching the premiership, so that to-morrow's matches should provide some close and hard-fought contests. Main interest will centre in the meeting of Parnell and University on No. 1 wicket at Eden Park. The Parnell side, which shares the lead in the competition with Eden, ig a solid proposition and University will have to reveal its best form to stand a chance of winning. Eden and Y.M.C.A. have been drawn to play on No. 2 wicket and should provide a fairly even struggle. Y.M.C.A.'s greatest difficulty should be in dismissing Eden, for the former in games to date has shown- that it possesses a very weak attack. The improving Grafton side will ha.ve King's Old Boys for its opponents in the game on No. 3 wicket, while Ponsonby will travel' to Devonport to play North Shore. The extended time for play to-rtiorrow will apply only to the first,', senior B and second grades.
