OPERATIONS AT WAIHI [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WAIHI, Thursday The following information has been cabled to the London office of the Waihi Gold Mining Company, Limited:— No. 4 Level.—-Driving east on the north branch of the Martha lode the next 7 feet is ore of good grade and the next 15 feet assays 24s a ton, the width of the lode varying from 4 to 15 inches: Edward lode: Driving south the next 30 feet is ore of good grade and the next 11 feet assays 8s 9d a ton. The lode is about 3 feet wide.

No. 6 Level.—'The prospecting crosscut for the north branch of the Martha lode is being continued. No. 11 Level, 70 feet sub-level.— Edward lode: Driving south has been stopped. The full width of the lode at 30 feet is 8 feet, and the assay value 16s a ton. Driving north the next 12 feet assays 12s a ton, and- the next 47 feet 49s a ton. The width of pay ore is about 4 feet. At 35 feet the full width of the lode is 24 feet, the average assay value being 18s a ton. No. 12 Level.—Royal lode: "We are now rising at 460 feet east. Grand Junction No. 6 Level.—South- ' east prospecting crosscut:. This was stopped at 410 feet in white coloured andesite. Driving west from the 70 feet west crosscut the next 32 feet is of little or no value. The lode is about 4} feet wide. THAMES AND COROMANDEL [by TELEGRAPH —OWN' correspondent] THAMES, Thursday The amount of gold won in January by prospectors at Thames and Coromandel by prospectors on vthe Unemployment Board s mining scheme was valued at £99 9s 4d, the amount from the Thames Borough being valued at£7l 17s. The value given does not include the bonus. WASH-UP AT WAITAHU [by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Thursday The Waitahu Goldmining' Company, Limited, which is operating near Greymouth, reports that boxes were washed on Friday last and a return of 19oz. of gold was obtained for 10 days' sluicing operations in opening out a paddock. MAEREWHENUA PROGRESS The directprs of Maerewhenua Goldiields Development Company, Limited (North Otago), have announced that they expect that sluicing in virgin rountry will be in full operation by May 1. GOLDFIELDS DREDGING LISTED The D unedin Stock Exchange has officially listed tho Goldfields Dredging Company, Limited, which is operating near Queenstown. Its dredge was former! v operated by the Golden Terrace Companv. The company has an authorised capital of £35,000 in 700,000 shares of Is each, of which 600,000 are issued fully paid. The remaining 100,000 shares are reserved linger call to nominees of Industries, Limited, for a period of three years at par. REPORTS OF MANAGERS Golden Dawn (Owharoa).—-No. 4 level: Drive north on No. 1 reef extended 4ft 6in, total 150 ft 6in, reef averaging lOin wide, value still low. Drive south on No. 3 reef from 30ft up rise has been driven 23ft, total 40ft, reef averaging lSin wide; ore of fair value. Drive north from 30ft up rise has been driven l'Bft, total 28ft, ,reef averaging 18in wide; ore of very fair value. No. 3 level: Drive north on eastwall branch on No. 1 reef from north winze driven 23ft, total 61ft, reef averaging 12in wide; ore of very good value. Crosscut west from 50ft_ up in south end of north stores on No. 3 reef has ~ been driven 26ft, total 26ft. At 20ft m a reef 2ft 6in wide was cut and of very good value. This looks to be the same reef as was cut in the crosscut east oil No. 1 reef at the intermediate level, »v -also carrying very good values. No. ■£ level: Rise on No. 1 reef from stopes in north block extended 2ft, "total 23ft or 40ft from Maria level, reef averaging 12in wide, but is split up into small stringers; ore at jwesent -poor. Stoping was continued on. No.- 3 and- intermedi« ate levels..
