progress in dominion NEW BRANCHES IN PROVINCE "There is not a missionary society represented among the churches of the Dominion that does not dra»v upon our resources in its field of operations overseas," states the latest animal report of the British and Foreign Bible Society in New Zealand. "Fully .'360 New /ealanders are missionaries in other lands and all can freely call upon the British and Foreign Bible Society for the scriptures necessary to further activities. The actual cost to the society of this service has been estimated at nearly £9OOO a year." For the rear 1933 the output of scriptures through the "Wellington Bible House reached the splendid total of 25,526 copies. About 90 per cent of these were sold at a loss to the society. They were sold in the following 24 languages: — Bulgarian, Cantonese, Danish, English, Esperanto, French, German, Greek, Modern Greek. Gujeratic, Hebrew, Hungarian. Italian, Japanese, Latin, Maltese, Marnthi, Maori, Norwegian, Rumanian, Spanish, Serbian, Swedish. The hardness of the times has revealed the fine loyalty of the friends of the society, and the grand total of gifts from the branches shows an increase, as compared with 1932. The amount received during 1933 was £6112. The Auckland area heads the list of contributions from provincial areas, with a total of £2161, and the work lias been carried on throughout the province with great zeal. New brandies have been formed at Papakura, Hiinua, Mangere Kast. Ruawai, Russell, Kerikeri. and Rangitaiki, and Waipu and Maungaturoto have been reorganised.
