WOMEN'S DIVISION
WAITEMATA EXECUTIVE THE HOUSEKEEPING SCHEME The quarterly meeting of the Waiteniata provincial executive of the Women's Division ' of the Farmers' Union was held in,the Farmers' Trading Company board room yesterday. The president, Mrs. Noel P. Adams, presided over an attendance of 35 delegates, representing 17 branches of tho executive. It was reportod that Mrs. M. G. Orr had accepted appointment as honorary organiser to the executive. Financial statements were presented by the honorary treasurer, Mrs. M. G. Orr, and the housekeeping secretary, Mrs. D. M. Bryan. Branch donations for the quarter to tho special housekeeping- fund totalled £ls 16s 6d, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Betteridge, president of the Ka'ukapalm pa branch, for her efforts in organising a garden party, which raised £7 of this amount. A further anonymous donation of £lO was announced by Mrs. Adams. It was reported that 17 applications for housekeepers had been received, as against five for the preceding quarter, la only three cases were the applicants not members. A maternity nurse was supplied to one branch, the same nurse filling two other engagements in cases of illness. In reference to supplying housekeepers to non-members, it was suggested by Mrs. Adams that the right should be reserved, if necessary, to withdraw housekeepers from non-mem-bers for the benefit of a member whose case was urgent. An aacount of the recent meetings at Wanganui of the bush nurse and housekeeper auxiliary and the Dominion executive was given by Mrs. Adams, who reported that the formation of 34 new senior branches brought the total of senior branches for the Dominion to 386. The value of the housekeeping scheme was shown by the fact that there had been 170 applications for housekeepers during the past quarter*. ISQs. Adams had been asked to expain the special features of the Waitemata executive's housekeeping scheme, and it appeared likely that other provincial executives would consider establishing similar schemes. Remits from the Waitemata executive had been particularly well received, nine remits being passed and one temporarily withdrawn, while two of lesser importance were lost.
