WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

AUCKLAND FEDERATION Reports of institutes of the Auckland Federation are as follows: To Atatu held a members' meeting, Mrs. Tickle presiding. The roll call was funny stories, and community singing was enjoyed. Mrs. Blennerhassett gave a talk on Rotorua. Hospital auxiliary work was collected and distributed.

Tutukehua had a competition for the most attractive and cheapest present, Mrs. Holland being first, Mrs. Canty second. Mrs. Tullock road a short address on Great Britain and New Zealand. Waikino had impromptu stories. Mrs. Lindsay won the competition. Waimauku gave a children's party, over 100 small guests being present. Dancing, games and competitions were enjoyed. Mrs. A. T. Hunt, winner of the butter-making competition, was presented with a crystal bowl. Waikiekie-Waiotira had for roll call uses of a lemon. The competition was spongo cake. The president, Mrs. Leach, gavo a lecture on hygiene. Whakapirau celebrated its second birthday by holding a social afternoon. The birthday cake was the work of Mrs. and Miss Moffatt. The programme included competitions, won by Mrs. Tibbitts, of Paparoa. The points prizes were presented to Mrs. Jackman and Mis. Moffatt.
