: 'recipients -in- fi-ji [from our own correspondent] SUVA, Jan. 4 One Fiji resident and another who. although riot now residing in the colony, is actively interested in the management of the largest private concorn in the colony, were mentioned in the honours list announced on January 'l.', Advice wftg received here on January I. that the Colonial Secretary,: the Hon. A. W., Seymour,' had been created a Companion of. the Order of St. Michael and St. George, and that the . Order of , the British Empire (Civil) had been conferred, upon Mr. F. T. C. Lord. inspector for the Colonial Sugar Refining Company,' Limited, in Fiji. ./The Hon. A. W. Seymour has been Colonial "Secretary in Fiji since 1926 aud; on several occasions has acted as Governor's Deputy during the absence of the Governor. From. 1905 to 1926 Mr. Seymour was in the Ceylon Civil Service, with the exception of three years military servico in. Egypt, Palestine and France.-.
Mr. F. T. C. Lord, 0.8. E., has beep for a number .of, yeqrs manager in Fiji for the Colonial' Sugar Refining Company,-. Limited; : wHich controls a number of mills throughout the colonv. Two years ago Mr. Lord was promoted to.head office in Australia from where ho still exercises an active interest in tho management of the Fiii sectiou of the company's business, making frequent trips to tho colony and the various mills in Fiji. Mr. > Lord accompanied the Australian delegation to tho Ottawa Conference. in the capacity of expert adviser in regard to sugar questions.
