CUTTING FIREWOOD
TWO MEN CHARGED A charge of attempting to steal teatree valued at 10s, the property of K. B. Brown, director of Kaurilands, Limited, Titirangi, was heard in the Police Court yesterday against two unemployed labourers, Bobert Samuel Weir and Wilfred Getlcy. Accused, who were represented by Mr. Ncwburgh, pleaded not guilty. Complainant gave evidence that considerable quantities of firewood had been taken from his property at Titirangi arid as a result notices of warnin" had been posted throughout the bush Oil September 28 a ranger saw defendants chopping wood on the properi v. They admitted intending to take it away, but said they had been informed' unemployed men had been given permission to do so. Defendants said they had seen no nofices of warning, and when told they had no right to chop the wood, immediately stopped. . The case was dismissed on the payment of 10s and costs by the defendants. _—.
