BUTTER AGAIN LOWER

BUYERS NOT OPERATING AN IRREGULAR MARKET GOOD DEMAND FOR CHEESE A further fall in prices for New Zealand finest butter on the London iharket was registered on Saturday, when rates up to 80s per cwt. were quoted, a reduction of 3s since Thursday. The advance in cheese values has been maintained, and there is a good demand. The following cablegram, dated November 4, was received last evening by Mr. C. R. Spragg from Bannatyne and Company, Limited: —Butter: Finest, 85s to 86s; first, 81s to 82s. Cheese: White and coloured, 49s to 50s. Tho cheese market has improved and is now firm. The decline in the market for butter is attributed to lack of buying in anticipation of lower values. The market is reported to be slow and irregular. Practically no f.o.b. business has been passing during the past twe weeks. There is still a fairly wide margin between prices for first and finest grades. Finest butter is usually in short supply in the first few months of the season. Merchants have received the following advices from their London principals under date November 3:— Mr. H. S. Withers, from A. C. Rowson. —Butter: 82s to 88s. Buyers are holding otf for lower prices. Cheese: White and coloured, 495. There is a good demand. Allen and Findlay, Limited, from Armour and Company, Limited. —Butter: New Zealand salted, 81s to 89s (last year 95s to 101s); unsalted, 108s to 112s (109s to 110s); Australian, salted, 81s to 86s; unsalted, 100s to 106s; Danish, 116s to 118s. The market is slow and prospects lower. Cheese: New Zealand, white, 48s to 49s (last year 65s to 665); coloured, 48s (60s to 61s); Canadian, 50s to 535. The market is lirm.

New Zealand Producers' Co-opera-tivo Marketing Association, Limited.— Butter: New Zealand, finest, 88s; first, 82s. Cheese: White, 48s to 495, coloured, 48s. Both markets are steady. A. H.
