LATE MRS. SPEAKMAN

FUNERAL SERVICE HELD The funeral service of Mrs. France* Mary Speakman, who died last Thursday at the age of 102, was held in Mary's Cathedral on Saturday afternoon. A brief address was given by Archdeacon G. Mac Murray, who was assisted in the service by Canon W. Fancourt. He recalled that over 40 years ago Sirs. Speakman, who for many years was a member of St. Mary's congregation, had shown him a Bible of which she was very proud and which she had won as a Sunday School prize more than 50 years earlier. Among those present at the service were Mr. S. Donaldson, Mayor of Newmarket, 'Mr. G. Dews, Mr. E. Taylor, Mr. G. Shipton and Mr. L. O'Brien, the four last-named acting as bearers. The interment took place at, Waikumete Cemetery.
