REDUCTION AT GISBORNE PROTEST BY UNEMPLOYED [by telegraph—Pßess association] GISBORNE, Saturday
Indignation lias been aroused among unemployed by the latest official intimation regarding the district allocation which will necessitate an all-round reduction on the relief scale, amount--ing nearly to one-third for one class. When* advised of the new scale today, a largo number of unemployed • waited on the Mayor, who explained 'that, tho local relief committee had already protested against the latest out, and now awaited the Minister's reply. The deputation pointed out that earnings from relief work will not furnish sustenance for families next week, and the Mayor arranged for an appeal to bo mado to the Hospital 'Board on Monday.
