NEW SOUTH WALES RESULT OF FIRST BALLOT FIFTEEN MEMBERS ELECTED ONLY ONE NEWCOMER By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright (Received November 5, 6.35 p.m.) SYDNEY. Nov. 5 The counting of the preference votes in the ballot for the first 15 members of tho new Legislative Council of New South Wales was concluded last night. The successful candidates in tho order of election are: Mr. T. G. Murray, Sir ,T. B. Peden, Messrs. E. H. Farrar. A. A. Alam, W. C. Cambridge, H. M. Hawkins, H. E. Home, H. E. Manning, ,T. Martin, H. C. Moulder, F. H. Tout, •T. F. Higgins, J. M. Concannon, K. A. King and Trautwein. All the above are sitting members except Mr. Trautwein, who beat Mr. E. C. McGrath (State Labour) for last place by 39-1000ths of a vote. Mr. Alam was on no party ticket, but just denominated as Labour. Ho sprang a surprise by securing fourth place. Messrs. Martin, Concannon and King are State Labour. Mr. Higgins Federal Labour, and Mr. Tra,utwein an Independent. The others are Government supporters.
