THE SYNOD AND THE BIBLE

Sir, —I consider it high time that the good old Book should be allowed to speak for itself. I am certain the whole of our trouble, though essentially originating through sin, has been caused by the various new versions of Scripture that have come out in these latter years. Champions of these versions have assured me, without convincing me, that the sense of the verse has in no case been altered, but only the meaning made clearer, yet a Cruden's Concordance 1 purchased the other day emphatically states just this very thingnote, I have altered my Concordance to read, "A meaning clearer" in place of "the meaning clearer," which latter I hold is incorrect, as I defy anyone to niter the Authorised Version either to its credit or to the glory of God. Awful curses rest on all who dare to alter this good old Book, especially Revelation. It is " the last will and testament of the Lord God of Hosts" and it is the Deity of Christ that these modernist? of all sects are hitting at whether they know it or not. W. J. Bycroft.
