HARBOUR BRIDGE
Sir,—l observe Mr. Harris. M.P., complains that he was not notified of tho recent deputation led by me to Ministers about the Bridge Company. But why should we notify him when we know that we can expect 110 help whatever from Mr. Harris, who has identified himself lately as the company's active agent and apologist? It is evident Mr. Harris prefers the company's interests to those of many of his constituents, who have lost all patience with this procrastinating corporation. Mr. Harris tells 11s to be "patient as the company is doing good work.." Mr. Harris, I hope, will forgive 111 c when I say that I consider this statement is not lacking in assurance in view of the fact that though the company got its charter over two years ago not even a single plan has as yet been prepared and lodged with the Minister, as required by the Statute. Further, is it not four months ago since Mr. Harris in tho public press begged myself and other doubters to be silent lest we should upset delicate negotiations which were almost 011 the point of being completed for tho construction of the bridge? I then accepted Mr. Harris' representation. I was thus misled into a quiescent, attitude, but I decline to be humbugged again. Lastly, Mr. Harris' statement that I am the only legislator dissatisfied with tho Bridge Company is quite incorrect. C. J. Pakr. Crown Hill, Takapuna.
