LEAGUE SECRETARIAT
DOMINION REPRESENTATIVE ARRIVAL ON OFFICIAL LEAVE On triennial official leave from Geneva, Mr. J. H. Chapman, New Zealand representative on the permanent secretariat of the League of Nations, arrived at Auckland yesterday by the Monterey from Los Angeles. He was accompanied by Mrs. Chapman and their three children, and will spend two months in New Zealand before returning to Switzerland. His immediate plans are not definite, but he expects to stay in Auckland for a day or two beforo going to Wellington. Mr. Chapman, who is a New Zealander, was appointed to his present post by the Now Zealand Government 12 years ago. Tlic journey home, which he has just completed, was made by way of Mexico to enable him to be present, as official delegate front the League, at the congress of the International Institute of Statistics held in Mexico City. Many countries wers represented at the congress, which discussed economic and social statistics. From Mexico City Mr. Chapman journeyed overland to Los Angeles, where he joined the Monterey. Mr. and Mrs. Chapman's youngest child was horn in Genova.
