ATTRACTIONS AT NIGHT
SEVERAL NEW AWARDS In view of the Boyal Show to be held in Auckland on February 8, 9 and 10 next, the council of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association decided yesterday to circularise 4000 interested persons at a cost of about £35 urging them to join the association. Mr. J. T. F. Mitchell, who made the suggestion, said a response of at least 5 per cent should be obtained.
The possibility of holding attractions at night during the show was referred to the attractions committee with power to act. The total cost was estimated to be £6O, including £3O for the installation of tho lighting equipment. It was stated tho necessary gear had been offered free by the Auckland Electric-Power Board.
It was decided to offer third prizes in tho ordinary classes for cattle, sheep and pigs, with certain stipulations. Reductions in the entry fees in tho light horse section were agreed upon.
It was resolved to add to the schedule classes for junior yearling heifers in Avrshircs and Shorthorns, pair of heifers in Red Polls and a junior breeders' group in A.vrshires.
A recommendation that awards be given for the best display of agricultural machinery and the best, display of motor vehicles was adopted. A list of donations in money and kind was received
. Feeling reference to the death of Sir Alfred Bankart was made by the president, -Mr. S. Austin C'arr.
