ANGLING SUCCESSES
SPORT ON TONGARIRO RIVER WELL STOCKED [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] TURANGA, Friday The rain which fell all day on Wednesday, the opening day of the fishing season, abated early yesterday morning and a spell of hot, sunny weather now appears to have set in. The success with which many anglers met ou Wednesday was repeated yesterday and to-day, and it is apparent that the Tongariro River is holding a great number of fish. A good proportion of the fish, however, are spent fish ' awaiting a fresh to take them back to the lake. A Whakatane angler took his limit of 15 fish on three successive days, the largest being 71b. A Wellington fisherman also had two limit bags in as many days, while numbers of other anglers did almost as well. The general opinion is that the rainbow trout being taken are quite up to the usual November standard. One prominent angler who, has visited the Tongariro River on the opening day for several successive years declares that he has had better sport this opening than on any other occasion.
