Nov. 2 The Daily Moral.l savs the United States at a cost of £IOO,OOO is preparing for a big aerial survey of the Pacific Islands. Nominally the purpose is to collect geographical and scientific information hut m reality it is to find out what the Japanese arc doing, as the United States Government is thoroughly alarmed at the persistent reports of fortified naval submarine and air bases m the Bonin, Marianne and Pelew Islands. If fortifications are discovered it will be a flagrant breach of Article 10 of the Washington Treaty. The survey is likely to occupy a year.
