ATLANTIC FLYING
NEW EMPIRE SERVICE REPORTED AGREEMENT (Received November 2, 9.15 p.m.) ST. JOHNS, Nov. 1 Tho Primp Minister of Newfoundland. Mr. F. C. Aldcrdice. stated to-day that the Governments of Britain, Canada and Newfoundland had readied an agreement with regard to a proposed transatlantic air service. Ho said the terms could not he disclosed at present, hut they were satisfactory to all who had participated in the conference in St. Johns last summer. Mr. Alderdico said he could not state when the service would he established. He felt certain that a transatlantic air bast* would be developed eventually in Newfoundland. The proposed route is from Liverpool by way of Northern Scotland, Iceland, Greenland, Labrador and Montreal, there to link up with the American and Canadian cities to the Pacific coast. KINGSFGRD SMITH CENTENARY AIR RACE VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND SYDNEY, Nor. 2 Sir Charles Kingsford Smith saya he will compete in the Melbourne Centenary air race and then renounce longdistance flying. He does not regard flying to New Zealand as long-distance Hying, as the journey can be made in daylight. The airman hopes to leave for New Zealand earlv in January.
