PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
NORTH AUCKLAND AFFAIRS BOUNDARIES OF CHARGES [from our own correspondent] "WHANGAREI, Thursday The North Auckland Presbytery at its quarterly meeting in Whangarei yesterday appointed a commission, consisting of the Moderator, the Rev. J. D. McFarlane, the Rev. C. 13rierley, the Rev. X. 0. White, and Mr. A. M. Rust, to submit a report, on the boundaries of charges and mission stations, no defined boundaries being recorded at present. A sub-committee was appointed in connection with an invitation to be forwarded to the Moderator of the General Assembly to visit charges in the Presbytery next June. The Whangarei charge will celebrate its 75th anniversary next June and the Moderator of the Assembly had accepted an invitation to be present at some of the functions. The budget assessment submitted by the clerk of the General Assembly assessing the presbytery at £260 for the next eight months ending June 30, 1934, was agreed to, and the Presbytery allotted respective charges their portion of the assessment. When the home mission grants totalling £llOO were under discussion it was pointed out that Mangapai was not receiving a grant. The missioner in charge of that station, who was receiving £lB2 a year, had been paying the running and repair costs of his motorcycle out of his own pocket. The management committee of that- station considered a grant should be made. The Rev. W. Elliott said he considered a small grant should be made. "Mangapai has always lived up to the requirements of the General Assembly and Presbytery." he said, "and is entitled to the assistance sought." The Presbytery decided to recommend to the home missions commit toe that a grant of £lO a year be made.
