MOTOR TRADE CODE
MR. FORD'S ATTITUDE URGED TO SURRENDER (Received November 1, 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 The National Automobile Chamber of Commerce to-day urged the Ford Motor Company to submit the report on wages and hours required by the industry's code. This is evidence that Mr. Ford's compliance with one of the requirements of the code has not settled his status in regard to Government contracts. The Finance Committee of the Chicago City Council to-day recommended tho purchase of 38 new Ford cars. No mention was made of Mr. Ford's dispute with tho N.R.A. The Governors of five States in the middle west and representatives of four others have signed a letter to President Roosevelt urging an N.R.A. code for agriculture, fixed minimum prices for basic farm products and inflation of the currency.
