NEW ZEALAND tfICTORY CONTESTS IN BRISBANE (Received October C. 1.15 a.m.) BRISBANE, Oct. 5 The boxing tests, New Zealand versus Australia, again attracted a big crowd to tho Brisbane Stadium this evening. Giving a clever exhibition of glovo work and determined hard hitting, W. Purdy, of Now Zealand (9st. 91b.), technically knocked out It. Nixon Smith (lOst. 41b.), in the third round in the lOst. 71b. division. H. Neale, of New Zealand (list. 511b.), made tho honours oven by knocking out L. Colton (lOst. 9£lb.) in the second round in tho list. 61b. division. With a big advantage in weight, A. Lindcsay of New Zealand (13st. 101b.), was ablo to beat tho heavy-weight L. 0. Inskip (12st. ,ljlb.). Tho Australian was down for tho count of nine four times during the four rounds, but tho Now Zoalandor only won on points. W. Hawes (Bst. 111b.), made a clean sweep for Now Zealand and clinched tho tests, by six matches to four, by dedicating P. Hallas (9st.), on points in ono of tho best bouts of tho evening in tho- D-stono division.
