PROBATION IN CAMP
Sir, —A few days ago I noticed in the Court news that a magistrate, in convicting a young man of theft, placed him on probation on condition that he entered a relief camp. I wish to protest against this action, as there is enough petty thieving in the camps now, and wo have no protection in the way of locks on our tents. Only a fortnight ago one man had £3 stolen out of his tent and his wife and family arc on short rations till next pay day. Ar.ruF.n Canton.
