FALSE PRETENCES
PROBATION FOR TWO YEARS Having pleaded, guilty last week to four charges of obtaining goods and cigarettes by moans of false pretences, Murray Sloan Russell, aged 25, clerk, appeared in the Police Court yesterday for sentence. The magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKean, said a report lie had received regarding accused-was nob favourable. However, it accused was prepared to enter a relief camp and work lie would not be sent to prison, but would be admitted to probation for two years. "This is your last chance, and if you come before the Court again you will fret the maximum term of imprisonment," said tho magistrate, in addressing acQused, who was ordered to make restitution, £3 lis 3d.
