DRAMA FESTIVAL
NEXT WEEK'S FIXTURES THREE PLAYS EACH DAY The first annual festival of drama under the auspices of the Auckland area branch of the British Drama League takes place at the Town Hall Concert Chamber during the coming week. The competition has attracted entries from many of the leading dramatic societies of the district, in addition to bringing before the publio the high standard reached by many societies which have hitherto played to a limited public. This year the festival includes an A section, which is an open competition for one-act plays, and a B section, for one-act plays by New Zealand authors only. The trophy in the A section has been donated by the New Zealand Herald, and in the B section by the New Zealand Mirror.
Miss Elizabeth Blake, who has had a comprehensive experience of dramatic festivals overseas, will be the adjudicator, and during the festival ehe will give a short criticism of each play from the stage.'
