AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP The Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship for the Billiards, Limited, Shield, was continued last evening at Messrs. Billiards. Limited, showrooms, the game between M. D. White and 11. A. Massey attracting a large gathering. White won by 500 points to 292. Massey was first to commence scoring, but White, who excels ill half ball play, played up to his best form in registering a 73 hazard break at his sixth visit to tho table. Massey replied by running up to 23 before failing. White made breakß of 40. 2-2 and 52. in his next three efforts, and gained a good lead. He followed by adding runs of 27 uijd 20 soon afterwards, and the scores then read 293 to 133 in his favour. Massey was not favoured by the run of balls and fell behind somewhat in tho scores. White was making the most of his opportunities, and compiled 'an attractive all-roulid break of 77. He maintained his advantago and ran cut a winner by 208 points. The final scores were: M. D. White, 500 (breaks of-73. 4(5. 22. 52, 27, 20, 21. 20. 77. 21 and 24, average 13): 11. A. Massey, 292 (breaks of 23, 20, 37 . 20). ■ - L. Holdsworth will play E. N. Warren this evening. JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP The junior billiards championship was continued at the Vulcan Lane billiards parlours, when G. Ratcliff, 350, beat H. V. Long, 272.
