EVENTS AT THE CHATEAU UNFAVOURABLE CONDITIONS ONLY ONE RACE HELD [BT TELEGRAPH—SPECIAL REPORTER] THE CHATEAU. Thursday Unfavourable weather conditions necessitated the postponement of all but one race of to-day's ski-ing events on Mount Ruapehu. Rain and sleet, which accompanied sharp westerly squalls, caused the competitors and officials some discomfort. Results were: —

Men's Slalom (open).—J. C. Robertson (Te Kuiti), lm 34 3-5s (total time for twice over course), 1; B. Murphy (Dawson's Falls), lm 45 l-os, 2; R. C. Murie (Wellington), lm 51 2-ss, 3. The baromoter is rising and improved conditions aro expected to-morrow. Mr. R. C. Murie left to-night for Wellington on route to Mount Cook to represent the Ruapehu Ski Club in the New Zealand ski-ing championships. Miss J. Beale. of Stratford, who will represent the Stratford Mountain Club at the Championships, will leave to-mor-row night. The Hon. J. Bitchener, Minister of Public Works, arrived from Rotorua to-day, accompanied by Mr. C. H. Clinkard, M.P. for Rotorua. After an inspection of National Park, he will leavo for Wellington to-morrow evening. MEETING AT MQUNT COOK AORANGI CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS [BY TELEGRAPH —PIIESS ASSOCIATION] TIMARU, Thursday The Aorangi Ski Club's meeting was continued to-day at Mount Cook, l'he results were as follows: Men's Slalom. —W. B. M. Myhre (Christchurch Ski Club), lm 21 2-5s and lm lis (100 points), 1; Dr. (>. 11. Frankel (Christchurch), lm 2Ss and 50 3-ss, including six 6s penalties (86 — .SO points), 2; L. V. Bryant (Tasman). lm 37 l-os and lm 22 3-os, including one penalty (81 —72 points), 3. Women's Slalom.—Mrs. A. B. Edward (Christchurch), lm 8 4-5s and lm 2 l-5s (100 points), 1; Mrs. V.
