PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP The Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship for the Billiards, Limited, Shield, was continued last evening at Messrs Billiards, Limited, showrooms, when I. Molloy played G. Basham. Basham displayed confidence in the early stages of tho gams and compiled correctly-played breaks of 24 and 30. Molloy scored consistently without making any breaks of note. He ndded a run of 20 to his scoro and passed the first, hundred mark with a few points lead. The scoring was of an even nature tip to the half-way mark, where Basham gained a useful load. Molloy made up the leeway in adding breaks of 23 and 29 to his scoro. Basham, however, passed the 300 mark with a lead of eight points. Breaks of 20 and 23 wero Basham's next efforts, and his opponent replied with runs of 22, 23 and a nicelyplayed effort of 43, and led • 437 to 370. Basham was not to be denied, and, at his next visit to the table, ho ran up to 39 before failing. A further effort of 20 by Molloy made his score 490 to Basham's 441. The latter made a great effort to win the game at this stage, and. playing splendidly, just failed through missing an easy shot. The final scores were: —Molloy, SOB-; Basham, 498. H._ A. Randrup will play D. Jones this evening.
