BOWLING NOTES
PLAY ON FAST GREENS PENNANT DATES ARRANGED BY BKIP Winter bowlers were again favoured by splendid weather on Saturday. Owing to the absence of rain the greens were in great order and exceptionally fast. Tho altered conditions saw a marked change in the play of certain bowlers. With the score 18—10 against them with 15 hoads gone, the chances of the holders of the Denison Pins, Ponsonby, did not look verjr bright against the challengers, Devonport. The game was played on the West End green, which was in good running order. Over the remaining half-dozen' heads the play changed considerably. The Ponsonby players monopolised the scoring with four runs of two and a brace of threes, and ran out winners by 24 to 18. Tho next challenger is It. Sheath, Romuera. A good start enabled the holders of the Edwin Stars, Mirgin's Remuera team, to hold the strong Balmoral challenging rink in the charge of Denison jail tho way and win by a margin of six points. Tho two leads, Somerfield, Bemuera, and McLeod, Balmoral, had a great tussle, tho experienced Remuera player finding his younger opponent hard to deal with. The next challenger is J. Dick, Ponsonby. Section play in' the Hillsborough tourney was concluded on Saturday, when tho section winners were found in Liringstonc, Onehunga, and A. Jackson, Hillsborough. The final will be played at a later date. The dates for the pennant matches having been disclosed by the centre executive, the various club officials •will be able to arrange their season's programme.
