CITY MERCHANT'S DEATH

OPENING OF INQUEST An inquest concerning tho death of Mr. Claude Meredith Fenwick, aged 54, managing director of T. and S. Morrin and Fonwick, Limited, was opened before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., coroner, yesterday. Deceased, a widower, was found in his office about 5 p.m. on Monday with a gunshot wound over the heart. A shotgun was lying near. Evidence was given by Robert Lindsay Fenwick that his • father had tho usual business worries. The gun was the property of witness, but ho had not seen it for five or six years. It had been lying about the store during that period. The inquest was adjourned sine die. Details of tho tragedy supplied to the coroner indicate that tho gun was repaired on Monday. Deceased wrote a number of letters to relatives and business acquaintances.
