AUCKLAND TROTS

SATURDAY'S MEETING «GOOD ACCEPTANCE LIST IARGE EPSOM QUOTA CANTERBURY NEWCOMERS The acceptances for the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting next Saturday are highly satisfactory, for out of ■7O horses originally entered 62 have made the final payment. Those withdrawn were Pearl Parrish, Young Travis, Pukemiro, Enawali, Worthy Light, Nelson Pirate, Mountain Guide and Eio Grande. There can bo no surprise at tho defection of tho last two, as their recent track trials at Epsom showed that they wero not forward enough for racing, nor is it surprising to find Enawah's name missing from the list, as she has raced only once since her triumphant visit to Cambridge in May. Pearl Parrish and Young Travis aro trainee! at Matamata, and probably are not ready to race. In spite of the absence of the three-year-old Young Travis, three Great Northern Derby candidates, Kewpie's King, Great Chum and Pingtrue, remain in the novice pacers' race. The most notable absentees are Pukejniro, Worthy Light and Nelson Pirate, nil of whom would havo been particularly well fancied after their fine form toward the end of last season. Worthy Light has contracted a very bad cold, and in her absence F. J. Smith will pin his hopes of success in the Mount Eden Handicap to Lislea, the somewhat disappointing half-brother to Pegaway and Nellota. Of the 62 acceptors Epsom supplies just over half the number with 32. Tho quota from the Otahuhu, Mangere and Takanini stables is 16, of which F. J. Smith provides five. Waikato trainers are represented by 14 horses. Two new-comers from Canterbury, Wee Parrish and Peter Junior, will add interest to the novice and improvers' events. Although nothing definite is yet announced, it is highly probable that two Canterbury reinsmen, J. Bryce, sen., and J. J. Kennerley, will attend the meeting, and each is assured of several drives. Kennerley has not visited an Auckland meeting for some time, but Bryce had a successful innings with Kewpie's Triumph at the May end June meetings.
