COMMISSIONER RETIRING [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Monday Mr. Alfred Ernest Allison, Commissioner of tho Government Life Insurance Department, has intimated his desire to retire from the service and will relinquish his duties on September 30 after more than 47 years' service. Mr. Allison, who was born in Christchurch, is a member of a family which has been resident in Canterbury for some 80 years. Members of the family 'came from England shortly after tho district was settled by the Canterbury Pilgrims.
