TRADE PARLEYS
MR. FORBES" IN OTTAWA (REATY EXTENSION QUESTION NEW ZEALAND BUTTER INCLUSION. IN DISCUSSIONS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received August 21, 5.25 p.m.) OTTAWA, Aug. 20 The consultations between representatives of tl}e British Empiro countries hiring and subsequent to tho World Economic Conference certainly were rery worth while in tho opinion of tho Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr. [}. W. Forbes, who reached Ottawa today. Tho conference itself was not a big success, nor was it a big failure, said Mr. Forbes. He had nothing to say as to the nature of his recent conversations with the Minister of Trade and CoinDierce, Mr. H. 11. Stevens. Asked about the possibility of again fxtending tho' trade treaty between New Zealand and Canada Mr. Forbes remarked that it would not expire until November 24. He did not indicate what action is contemplated by either tho New Zealand or the Canadian Government.
Mr. Forbes left for Toronto this evening after a discussion with the actingPrime Minister, Sir George Perloy, and Mr. Stevens. The conversation is undergtood to have traversed the whole field of reciprocal .trade between the two Dominions, and that special attention was devoted to New Zealand butter imports into Canada. There are indications that some of the difficulties surrounding the problem were composed, but tho nature of the solution was'not disclosed. A statement probably will be issued later.
After Toronto Mr. Forbes will visit Jfiagara Falls and Chicago.
