TOWN-PLANNING WORK
THE AUCKLAND INSTITUTE ELECTION OF OFFICERS The delay of the Government in allpointing a successor to Mr. J. W. Mawson as director of town-planning is viewed with concern in the report of the executive of the Auckland branch of the Town-Planning Institute, presented at the annual meeting last evening. The chairman, Mr. W. J. Hoklsworth, presided over a largo attendance. It was stated in the report that it was felt the Government should mako some announcement concerning the position. Less work than usual had been done by the institute during the past year, the report added, but a wide field of activities was covered, several valuable addresses and eight wireless talks being given. The following officers were elected:— Chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth; vice-chairman, Mr. J. Tyler; committee, Miss A. Basten, Professor C. R. Knight, Messrs. A. D. Bynes, E. V. Blake, T. Bloodworth, N. Brinsden, Preston Chambers, K. Draffin, C. K. Grierson, W. H. Gummer, R. D. Hammond, F. Jarrett, R. A. Lippincott, G. T. Murray, C. E. Putt, U. Upton and E. D. Wilkinson; technical group, Messrs. Blake, Brinsden, Chambers, Grierson, Gummer, Hammond, Jarrett, Putt, Murray and Professor Knight; delegate to the council at Wellington, Mr. Gummer.
